California State Assembly District 38 recently issued the following announcement.
Upon the Governor Gavin Newsom’s unveiling of the 2020-21 budget proposal , Assemblywoman Christy Smith (D-Santa Clarita) offered the following reflections:
“The Governor’s budget proposal builds upon much of what my colleagues and I passed last year and contains investments that will benefit the 38th Assembly District community. I am pleased to see further enhancements in our state’s emergency response capabilities, including expanding the previous $1 billion allotted to strengthen emergency management and better equip our firefighters to tackle wildfires, with a year-round fire season now the new normal. I am also heartened to see increased funding to strengthen public education by stabilizing schools and approximately $900 million to address teacher shortages, in addition to emphasis on small business development and job creation. The Governor’s proposal gives us a robust launchpad, and I look forward to working with the rest of the State Legislature to finalize the budget.”
