LOS ANGELES, CA — Last week, Congressman Tony Cárdenas hosted a grant workshop for local organizations at the Panorama Library. Representatives from the Center for Nonprofit Management, U.S. Census Bureau and the Office of Mayor Karen Bass shared their expertise on what to consider when applying for grants, census tools and grant writing and the L.A. REPAIR initiative, respectively.

“I would like to thank everyone who came to the workshop, especially the organizations who continue to serve the families of the San Fernando Valley,” said Congressman Cárdenas. “Too often, organizations that work with underserved communities do not receive their fair share of grants because they do not have the know-how to acquire the critical information to navigate federal grant applications. My office will continue to host these workshops for our community, and we will always be here as a resource for you and your teams.”

Since 2022, members of the U.S. House of Representatives have been able to submit up to 15 Community Project Funding requests for organizations based in their district. However, there are other opportunities to secure federal funding through grants. Legislation that Congressman Cárdenas helped pass, including the American Rescue Plan, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act, made available many funding opportunities for nonprofits and small businesses at the state and federal level.
